Arthur Schuman Inc. is well known as the largest importer of Italian, Italian-style hard cheeses, but not many know that ASI is one of the largest if not the largest, producer of domestic Italian-style hard cheeses.
Using its long-standing technical expertise, ASI produces premium Parmesan, Romano and Asiago blocks and wheels in facilities in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Idaho and South Dakota. These cheeses complement ASI imports and fill the demand for many who require U.S.-produced cheese for their use.
Turtle Lake, Wisconsin is the home of ASI’s special production of Parmesan wheels. These premium wheels are made following time-tested, traditional techniques in special vats. They are aged more than 10 months, and some are aged 24 months, to produce flavorful, superior quality cheese. This production elevates the standard of hard cheese in the U.S. and is another ASI innovation.
Additionally, ASI now has hard cheese production in Minnesota, Idaho and South Dakota. More than 40 million pounds of blocks are produced according to ASI rigorous technical specifications and exacting standards. These Parmesan, Asiago and Romano blocks are eagerly sought after by graters and other kind companies which demand the finest ingredients for their products.
